Yesterday was an exciting day as the registration for the greatest singlehanded sailing event in the world: Silverudder opened at 18:00 CET sharp. I heard of this event a couple of years ago and I wanted to participate at lease once in my lifetime.

While I was away on a snowboarding trip in Norway last week I was considering whether I should register this year instead of procrastinating. Coming from the Netherlands the trip to the starting line is longer than the actual race and I just sailed my boat from that region to Holland a year ago.

It’s an exciting thing event look forward to. So when registration opened I filled in my details and performed the payment. So I’m going!

BAIA will be sailing in the Keelboat Large class and my ambition is just to participate in the event and make it back safe without any damage or harm. Although BAIA is a ‘Racer/Cruiser’ there are a lot faster boats in this class so I’ll not be setting any records. And that’s fine.

Silverrudder is just something any solo sailor has to have done at least once and this year I’ll have a go.
